Best way to pay:

  • Use a PRESTO card (physical or digital), or debit or credit card, for fast easy payment 
  • Where to get a PRESTO card:

    • Buy one for $4 at a Fare Vending Machine at a station, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, or online at prestocard.ca.
    • Load a digital PRESTO card in your mobile wallet for free (13 years of age and older).

     


  • Setting a youth or post-secondary fare type on a PRESTO card:

    • PRESTO cards are set to deduct an adult fare, to change that:
  • Loading a PRESTO card

    • Load a PRESTO card with funds to pay-as-you-go, or a monthly pass by:
      • Using the PRESTO App available for free on the Google Play or Apple App stores.
      • Going online to prestocard.ca
      • Setting up Autorenew or Autoload
      • Using a Self-Serve Machine at a station, or visiting a Shoppers Drug Mart, or Loblaws
      Monthly passes are available the last 12 days of a month until eight days after the start of a month.
  • Using a PRESTO card:

    • Tap your card or mobile device every time you board a vehicle on a street or enter a station.
    • You will have two-hours to travel from your first tap, without being charged another fare.
    • Under the One Fare Program, you only pay once when transferring between the TTC and Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit, GO Transit, MiWay and York Region Transit, as long as you are within two-hours of your first tap, or three-hours for GO Transit.
  • Using a Youth PRESTO Ticket (provided by schools for travel)

    • Tap your PRESTO Ticket when you board a vehicle on a street, or enter a station.
    • You will have two-hours to travel from your first tap before your ticket expires. 
  • Proof-of-Payment:

    • Your tapped PRESTO card, PRESTO Ticket, or mobile device is your Proof-of-Payment. Be prepared to show it to a TTC employee if ask during your journey.
    • If paying by cash, get a paper transfer from the Operator on a bus, from the Fares and Transfers Machine on a streetcar or from the Transfers Machine in a station. Be prepared to show it to a TTC employee if asked during your journey. 
  • Proof of Age ID cards:

    Child Proof-of-Age

    • Child Proof-of-Age Cards are available for children who are tall for their age. Children can show this card to an Operator, or Customer Service Agent, to prove they can travel for free. Cards are available from the school office, or by calling the TTC’s Customer Service team at 416-393-3030. 

    Youths age 16-19

    • Youths ages 16-19 must carry a high school photo ID, driver’s license, or an Ontario Photo Card when travelling on the TTC, and be prepared to show it to a TTC employee if asked during their journey.

    Post-secondary students

    • Post-secondary students planning on purchasing a TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass need to purchase a TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card.

    • Post-secondary students 19 years of age and younger are eligible for the youth fare. You do not need to set a post-secondary fare type on your PRESTO card or purchase a TTC Post-Secondary Monthly pass until you turn 20.
