Ontario’s One Fare Program

Customers paying with a PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, debit or credit card (physical or one in a mobile wallet) will be able to transfer for free between the TTC, Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit, MiWay and York Region Transit, thanks to Ontario’s new One Fare Program. Also, customers using PRESTO, debit or credit, to transfer between TTC and GO Transit will benefit from the One Fare Program. The TTC portion of the trip will be free, regardless of the direction of travel. PRESTO automatically calculates a 100 per cent discount and applies it to your PRESTO card, credit or debit card.

The program applies to:

  • Youths
  • Adults
  • Post-Secondary Students
  • Seniors
  • TTC Fair Discount Pass customers

Children 12 and under always travel for free on the TTC.

The way the program works

Travelling from the TTC to GO Transit, Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit, MiWay and York Region Transit:

  1. Tap your PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, debit or credit card on a PRESTO reader when boarding a TTC bus, streetcar, or on a fare gate when entering a station to pay your TTC fare. Your two-hour transfer will be automatically applied to your card.

  2. When transferring, tap using your original method of payment on a PRESTO reader. You will receive your free transfer and won’t be charged another fare, as long as you are within two hours of your first tap on the TTC. For transfers to GO Transit, you will be reimbursed for the TTC portion of your fare, as long as you are within two-hours of your first tap. When transferring to GO Transit, you will then receive free transfers for up to three hours from your first tap onto GO Transit. When travelling on GO Transit, tap off when you get to your destination, unless you have a default trip set.

  3. Continue to tap using your original payment method again when transferring to other transit vehicles during your journey. When travelling on GO Transit, tap off when you get to your destination, unless you have a default trip set. Your tapped PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, debit or credit card is your proof-of-payment.

Traveling on a TTC-operated bus into Mississauga or York Region:

  1. Tap your PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, debit or credit card on a PRESTO reader when boarding a TTC bus, streetcar, or on a fare gate when entering a station to pay your TTC fare. Your two-hour transfer will be automatically applied to your card.

  2. When exiting your TTC-operated bus in Mississauga or York Region, you must tap your original method of payment again. You won’t be charged a MiWay or YRT fare as long as you are within two hours of your first tap on the TTC. This is the same process that happens today when TTC buses travel in Mississauga and York Region.

  3. When transferring to another MiWay or YRT bus, tap your original payment method again, even if you’re still within your two-hour transfer window. Your tapped PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, debit or credit card is your proof-of-payment
