Children
Kids 12 or younger ride for free!
A child fare type can be added to an existing or new PRESTO card by visiting a participating Shoppers Drug Mart or Customer Service Outlet. The child fare type must be set in-person. Proof of age is required. It is not possible to purchase or set a PRESTO card with a child fare type online or from a fare vending machine.

Seniors are required to carry one of the following forms of photo identification as proof of age when traveling on the TTC:
- Driver’s License or Ontario Photo Card
- TTC Senior’s Photo ID (if you already have one. These are no longer available from the TTC).
Post-Secondary Students
Post-secondary students are eligible for a discounted monthly pass with a TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card. To use the post-secondary monthly pass, students must be:
- Enrolled in a full-time degree or diploma program in a recognized Post-Secondary institution located within the City of Toronto (a recognized Post-Secondary institution complies with the Post-Secondary Education Choice and Excellence Act, 2000. - Enrolled as a full-time student at Private Career College (registered under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005) located within the City of Toronto. To find out more information about this act, visit the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 (opens in a new window).
TTC Post-Secondary Student Photo ID Card
Students must carry their TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID when using their monthly Post-Secondary Monthly Pass and present it upon request by TTC staff.
Take your TTC Photo ID Card and your physical or digital PRESTO card to any participating Shoppers Drug Mart or Customer Service Outlet to have your post-secondary student fare type set on your card.
Eligible students are required to have an ID card to purchase and use a TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass.
Eligible customers can purchase a TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card and have their photo taken at the following locations:
- TTC Photo ID Centre at Bathurst Station ($5.25 payable by Interac debit chip and PIN)
- At an in-person on-campus visits ($7.00 by Interac debit, or exact cash)
Students must bring:
- Proof of full-time enrollment as a post-secondary student in a recognized degree or diploma program located in the City of Toronto
- One piece of government issued photo ID or school ID
- Digital screenshots or electronic versions of documents are accepted. Please ensure the quality is clear and sufficient to read all of the details. Student name, post-secondary school name, and dates of study should be visible on the document. Old documents from previous semesters will not be accepted .

The Fair Pass Transit Discount Program is a City of Toronto poverty reduction initiative to help make TTC and Wheel-Trans more affordable for low-income Toronto residents. The discount is programmed onto a PRESTO card and saves cardholders 36% on TTC single adult fare rides and 21% on TTC adult monthly passes. Eligible City of Toronto residents must be 20-64 years old; meet the program’s definition of low-income; and have a PRESTO card.
To be eligible for the discount, you must:
- live in the City of Toronto;
- be 20-64 years old;
- meet the program’s definition of low-income, and;
- have a PRESTO card number.

Can I purchase a youth/senior PRESTO Ticket?
No. PRESTO Tickets are only available at the adult cash fare price. If you are a youth or senior, you should purchase a PRESTO card and have it set to deduct a youth / senior fare. With a PRESTO card, you’ll always be paying the lowest fare.

Can a TTC Post-Secondary Student Photo ID Card be used with a Youth pay-as-you-go fare?
No. The TTC Post-Secondary Student Photo ID Card can only be used with the TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass. Post-secondary students who are 19 or under should set their PRESTO card to a Youth fare type to be deducted the Youth fare or be prepared to provide photo ID as required when paying a Youth cash fare.

Can I still use my TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card if I am no longer an eligible Post-Secondary Student?
No. You may not use your TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card if you are no longer enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program.

Is a TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass transferable?
Yes. You can allow another post-secondary student to use your TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass, as long as you aren’t using it and they have their own TTC Post-Secondary Student Photo ID Card.
