Essential Rail and Concrete Repairs on St Clair Ave West from Vaughan Rd to Bathurst St

Effective September 28, 2026 to October 3, 2026

What we are doing and why

From Monday, September 28 to Saturday, October 3, TTC track crews will be conducting essential rail and concrete repairs on St. Clair Avenue West from Vaughan Road to Bathurst Street.

These essential repairs are part of TTC’s preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations.

Work activities, hours, and timeline

Work will begin on Monday, September 28, and is expected to be completed on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Work activities will include concrete saw-cutting, concrete breaking/removal, rail replacement, and placement of new concrete.
Crews will aim to conduct noisy activities, such as concrete breaking/removal work, during the daytime; however, overnight work may be required due to unforeseen conditions or inclement weather.
Some activities will be conducted around-the-clock to ensure the quality installation of new rail and concrete.
Noise and lights from construction vehicles/machinery should be expected.

Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian impacts

All work will be contained within the streetcar allowance (centre lanes) on St. Clair Avenue West.
Traffic on St. Clair Avenue West will be maintained in the curb lanes. To create safe work zones, street parking and bike lanes may be temporarily restricted.
The location of the work zones may inhibit left turns.
Pedestrian crosswalks may be temporarily closed to facilitate construction activities.
A paid duty officer and/or flag persons will be on-site to facilitate traffic movements as required.
Driveway access will be maintained.

TTC service adjustments

From 11:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28 to 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026

512/312 St Clair streetcars will be fully suspended.

512 St Clair replacement buses will operate:

- Westbound: from St Clair Station (streetcar platform), west on St. Clair Avenue East, north on Weston Road and west and south on Gunns Road to Gunns Loop.

- Eastbound: from Gunns Loop, east on St. Clair Avenue West to St Clair Station (streetcar platform).

512B St Clair replacement buses for Overhead Infrastructure Removal and Reinstatement at the St Clair Avenue West Rail Bridge will continue to operate between Gunns Loop and Lansdowne Station.

The 340 Junction bus will continue to operate to Oakwood Avenue via St. Clair Avenue West.

Wheel-Trans service will be maintained.

Following the completion of work, beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026

512/312 St Clair streetcar service will resume along the full route.

512B St Clair replacement buses will continue to operate between Gunns Loop and Lansdowne Station until October 31, 2026.

- Westbound via Lansdowne Avenue, St. Clair Avenue West, Weston Road, and Gunns Road.

- Eastbound via St. Clair Avenue West, Lansdowne Avenue, Dupont Street, Symington Avenue, Bloor Street West, and Lansdowne Avenue.

The 340 Junction bus will continue to operate to Oakwood Avenue via St. Clair Avenue West until October 31, 2026.
