Streetcar Overhead Activities
What we are doing and why
TTC crews are currently carrying out overhead wiring upgrades at various locations across the city to support ongoing infrastructure improvements and enhance service reliability.
Crews are currently working daily and may relocate to different areas of the city depending on need. Crews require some flexibility and given the right conditions, which include curb lane availability and access to overhead poles, they may move and work in different locations throughout the same day.
Locations
- Bathurst Steet – Queen Street West to King Street West
- Bathurst Street and Dundas Street West
- Bathurst Street and Queen Street West
- King Street East and Queen Street East (just west of the DVP Bridge)
- Fleet Street – Fort York Blvd to Strachan Avenue
- Fleet Street – Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street
- Fleet Street and Bathurst Street
- Exhibition Loop
Work activities, hours, and timeline
- Crews will work throughout the day, and night as required
- On average, one to three TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment will be used to carry out this work. While efforts will be made by the crew to keep noise to a minimum, beeping sounds when the trucks are backing up will be audible. Equipment lights may also be noticeable.
Motorist and pedestrian impacts during overhead work
- Traffic will be maintained throughout the area.
- Sidewalks will not be impacted.
- Parking may need to be restricted in local areas where crews are working and accessing poles.
- Paid-duty officers will be on-site to help manage traffic flow.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve transit infrastructure in Toronto.
