What we are doing and why
As part of the TTC’s Easier Access Project to make Spadina Station (Line 1) accessible to everyone, heavy drilling and excavation are expected to begin to build the elevator shafts on Lowther Ave (west of Spadina Rd).
The heavy drilling, including caisson drilling and pile installation, is expected to commence as early as this week, with completion by mid-March 2024. Following this work, the excavation is expected to take place and be completed by June 2024.*
What to expect
Noise and vibration should be expected with these works. A drill rig, concrete trucks, other machinery, and site staff will be present in the general construction area.
Work hours
Work will typically take place Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some work on weekends and overnight may be required. Weather conditions may affect the progress of this work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience.
TTC service
Subway and bus service will be maintained throughout construction with the exception of the bus stop(s) at Spadina Road and Lowther Avenue that will be out of service at various points during construction and bus route diversion during the nightly closure.
