What we are doing and why

As part of the TTC’s Easier Access Project to make Spadina Station (Line 1) accessible to everyone, work continues to build the elevator shafts for Elevator 2 (E2) below Lowther Ave (west of Spadina Rd).

Heavy drilling (caisson drilling and pile installation) and excavation were completed in June. Currently, construction is focused on laying the foundation for the E2 shaft, which is scheduled for completion by the of August*. Looking ahead, the construction of the shaft walls and slabs is expected to begin in September*.

What to expect

Noise and vibration should be expected with these works. A crane, concrete trucks, other machinery, and site staff will be present in the general construction area.

Work hours

Work will typically take place Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some work on weekends and overnight may be required. Weather conditions may affect the progress of this work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience.
