Queens Quay and Bathurst intersection - curved rail renewal
What we are doing and why
From May 5 to 15, 2025, TTC track crews will renew the curved streetcar tracks at the Queens Quay and Bathurst Street/Eireann Quay intersection. These necessary repairs are part of the TTC’s preventative maintenance program, which ensures safe and reliable streetcar operations.
Work activities, hours, and timeline
- TTC crews will set up the work zone and begin working on May 5.
- Crews will work 24/7 until the end of the day on May 15.
- Work will consist of concrete milling, followed by concrete saw-cutting, concrete breaking/removal, streetcar rail replacement, and new concrete placement. Noise is to be expected.
Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian impacts during construction
- During construction, crews will work in the streetcar lanes at the Queens Quay and Bathurst Street/Eireann intersection.
- The pedestrian crossings at the north and east legs of the Queens Quay and Bathurst Street/Eireann Quay intersection will be shifted north and east, respectively. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians.
- Southbound access to Eireann Quay from Bathurst Street will be permitted.
- Northbound left and right turns from Eireann Quay to Queens Quay will be permitted.
- Westbound right turns from Queens Quay to Bathurst Street will be permitted.
Turn restrictions
- To facilitate construction, eastbound and westbound left turns will not be permitted at the Queens Quay and Bathurst Street/Eireann Quay intersection.
- Northbound and westbound through traffic will not be permitted at the Queens Quay and Bathurst Street/Eireann Quay intersection.
- Paid duty officers will be in place to assist traffic management.
TTC service impacts
There are no impacts to service as the 509 Harbourfront streetcar is temporarily suspended, and 511 Bathurst streetcars continue to divert further north due to the Bathurst Street, Lake Shore Boulevard West and Fleet Street watermain replacement and streetcar track replacement project.
Learn more about these diversions at ttc.ca.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve transit infrastructure in Toronto.
