Dundas Street West - Streetcar Rail Repairs

What we are doing and why

 

From March 26 to 30, TTC will be performing essential rail and concrete repairs on Dundas Street West from Bathurst Street to Spadina Avenue. Work will include excavating and removing concrete, replacing or repairing streetcar rail and restoring the road surface. These critical repairs are part of TTC’s preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations.

 

  

Work locations and approximate timing

 

Dundas Street West – Bathurst Street to Spadina Avenue (March 26 – March 30)

 

  • One traffic lane in each direction will be maintained through this section
  • Access to the hospital via Dundas Street West and Carlyle Street will be maintained

 

Work activities

 

  • Track work will generally require milling the concrete, saw-cutting, breaking and removing existing concrete, replacing the streetcar tracks, and pouring new concrete.
  • Continuous, around-the-clock work is needed to ensure proper installation of the new rail and concrete.
  • Noisy work will be reduced as much as possible during overnight hours.
  • New concrete will be poured into the track area and allowed to cure before the road fully reopens to streetcars and vehicle traffic.

 

Traffic management

 

  • Paid-duty officers will be on-site to help manage traffic flow.
  • Sidewalks and access to nearby businesses will remain open.
  • To maintain a safe work zone, street parking in the area surrounding the intersection may be temporarily restricted.

 

TTC service - March 26, 4 a.m. to March 30, 4 a.m.

 

  • 505 Dundas streetcars will be divert both ways on Bathurst Street, College Street and Spadina Avenue.
  • Stops not served: Dundas Street West between Bathurst Street and Spadina Avenue.
