West of Pape Station - ventilation shaft rehabilitation
Effective April 29, 2024
What we are doing and why
Starting Monday, April 29, 2024 the TTC will be conducting repairs to the subway ventilation shaft situated in the Green P parking lot north of Danforth Avenue between Gough Avenue and Pape Avenue (Carpark 137). This work will take approximately eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Work includes
Replacement of the metal grate.
Rehabilitation of the concrete structure encasing the metal grate
Noise, dust, and vibration associated with construction can be expected with this work. Efforts will be made to keep levels to a minimum.
Equipment
A concrete saw-cutter, hand-held power chipping tools, a generator, scaffolding, a small crane, backhoe and concrete truck as required.
Work hours
In preparation for the work, some overnight activity is required to allow crews to set up the work zone and install supports inside the vent shaft from street level. Efforts will be made to keep noise to a minimum. Overnight work will also be required for the removal of the work zone upon completion of the work.
With the exception of the first few days and at the end of the project, work will typically take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Some daytime weekend work may be required.
Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian impacts
Access to the parking lot will be maintained.
To create a safe work zone, some parking stalls will be temporarily closed.
All sidewalks and laneway access to nearby properties will be maintained.
Thank you for your patience during this essential infrastructure repair work.
