King Street West from Shaw to Bathurst - Essential Concrete and Rail Repairs

Effective June 22, 2025 to July 12, 2025

What we are doing and why

From Sunday, June 22 to Saturday, July 12*, TTC track crews will be conducting repairs to sections of rail and concrete on King Street West between Shaw Street and Bathurst Street. Crews currently plan to start in the west and work east towards Bathurst Street.

These essential repairs are part of TTC’s preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations.

*Content/timeline accurate at the time of posting

*Work zones will be in short distances. Not the entire continuous street.

Work activities, hours, and timeline

  • Crews will begin setting up work zones on Sunday, June 22.
  • Work activities will include concrete saw-cutting, concrete breaking/removal, rail replacement, and placement of new concrete. Concrete breaking/removal work will be conducted during the daytime.
  • Some activities will be conducted around-the-clock to ensure quality installation of new rail and concrete.

Motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian impacts

  • Traffic on King Street West will be maintained in the curb lanes. To create safe work zones and street parking may be temporarily restricted in the vicinity of the work zones.
  • The location of the work zones may inhibit left turns.
  • Traffic restrictions and the work zone will be cleared once the newly placed concrete has cured adequately for road traffic.
  • Paid duty officers or flag persons will be on-site to assist traffic movements.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
