Test pit investigations in the bus loop and Berwick Avenue
Effective June 16, 2025
*Subject to change due to unforeseen conditions.
What we are doing and why: TTC will be conducting investigation work on Berwick Ave and inside the bus loop of Eglinton Station. This work is necessary to support structural rehabilitation of the section of tunnel between Eglinton Station and Berwick Avenue.
Project Overview:
The support structure for Eglinton Station is deteriorating. TTC is undertaking a vital state-of-good repair project to rehabilitate this area. Completing the work will ensure TTC maintains the long-term safety of the station and our transit operations and avoids significant long-term risks/costs from deferred maintenance.
There will be 12 test pits inside the bus loop and four pits on Berwick Avenue.
Work hours: Construction will be taking place between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. This work can only be done safely overnight, when the subway is not running.
What to expect during the rehabilitation work:
There will be no interruptions to bus and subway service.
Some noise and dust can be expected for temporary periods because of drilling and hydro-vac trucks. Efforts will be made to keep levels to a minimum.
Intermittent lane reductions and pedestrian detours may be required. Pedestrian and property access will be maintained at all times.
No work will be conducted on private property.
Construction trucks, equipment, and workers will be present in the general area.
The test pits will be restored to previous conditions upon completion.
Access:
Vehicular and pedestrian access on Berwick Avenue will not be impacted.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve transit infrastructure in Toronto.
