TTC upgrades Live Service Alerts digital experience

The TTC’s Live Service Alerts digital experience is getting an all-new look and a significant upgrade.
The online tool is evolving into a centralized information hub, with planned and unplanned service changes and network information easily accessible in one location.
The upgraded TTC Live Service Alerts section will also include expanded real-time service updates and accessibility features, and more detailed station and surface route information. These enhancements will deliver more transparency, better trip planning capabilities, and an improved, modernized online experience for customers, equipping them with the real-time information they need prior to and during their trips.
What’s New with Live Service Alerts
Modernized, redesigned layout
The updated section organizes alerts by subway and LRT lines and surface routes and categorizes them in a way that reflects how customers think about and plan their trips.
- Highlights the number of alerts per line
- Groups subway, LRT, bus, and streetcar alerts consistently
- Makes it easier to scan for the type of disruption that may directly impact customers
Broader range of service impacts
Customers will have a more accurate picture of what may affect their journey beyond major service disruptions. This includes:
- Stop‑specific alerts
- Winter weather impacts
- Accessibility alerts
- Elevator outages
- Escalator outages
Clearer and more comprehensive service information
When site visitors click into an alert, they will have far more detail about bus and streetcar detours and service information across the network than before. Each alert will now include:
- Affected stations or stops
- Start time (and end time when applicable)
- Direction of impact
- Cause of the disruption
- Shuttle bus availability
- A visual map-style representation of the affected area
For example: a “No Service” alert now lists every station involved and clearly marks where shuttle buses are operating. Similarly, subway closure pages dynamically update as dates pass, ensuringcustomers always see the most current information.
Enhanced accessibility information
Accessibility alerts feature key additional details to ensure customers with mobility needs can plan their trips confidently and avoid unexpected barriers or challenges that may impact their journeys across the network. Information on system outages now includes:
- Exact locations of the elevator or escalator outage
- Clear start and end times for outages
- Step‑by‑step guide to accessible alternatives
- A visual list of nearby stations with accessibility indicators
What is changing with the Live Service Alerts upgrade
Customers looking for information on planned and unplanned subway and LRT closures and other service disruptions will now find those alerts centralized with all other service changes within the upgraded Live Service Alerts section.
Going forward, the yellow alert bar located at the top of webpages across ttc.ca will only feature updates for significant service impacts and disruptions. Examples would include but are not limited to widespread, long-term, systemwide outages affecting:
- Accessibility for customers (elevators, escalators, passenger assistance intercoms system)
- Subway and LRT lines
- Fare payment system disruptions affecting PRESTO, debit or credit cards
