Streetcar Pilots Collection Statement

Collection Statement/Notice of Collection:

The Toronto Transit Commission (“TTC”) is conducting a Streetcar Illegal Passing Camera pilot project from April 2026 to April 2027 (the “SIPC Pilot Project”). The personal information collected by the project is collected under the authority of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56, and section 166 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8 (the “HTA”), each as amended from time to time.

The SIPC Pilot Project will be collecting information from cameras installed on the side of the streetcar where passengers board and alight, for the purpose of quantifying the issue and testing the viability and accuracy of camera technology for the issue of automobile infractions respecting the illegal passing of streetcars under the HTA. Tickets will not be issued as part of the pilot.
