Pape Station construction

Effective May 12, 2024

As part of the province’s new Ontario Line, Metrolinx is building a new underground station that will connect to Line 2 Bloor-Danforth at Pape Station. Pape Station will be impacted by service changes and disruptions starting in March until fall 2024.

During the first phase of service changes from March 31 to May 11, 2024, Pape Station bus terminal was partially closed for demolition work on the east side bus bay canopy to prepare for construction.

During the second phase of service changes, the bus terminal will be fully closed for major construction starting May 12 until fall 2024.

Access to the station will be maintained. Subway service at Pape Station may be disrupted intermittently to accommodate work in the subway tunnel; customers will be informed in advance.

Service changes are as follows:

  • Wheel-Trans, 72A and 72C Pape will be the only routes serving Pape Station, on-street.

25 Don Mills | 925 Don Mills Express

  • 25 Don Mills and 925 Don Mills Express will divert to Broadview Station via Broadview Avenue and O’Connor Drive from Pape Avenue and O’Connor Drive.

72 Pape | 81 Thorncliffe Park

  • 72B Pape and 81 Thorncliffe Park will be suspended.
  • 72A and 72C Pape will be extended north to Thorncliffe Park to replace the 81 Thorncliffe Park, continuing to service Pape Station on-street. Service will be increased on both branches in most travel periods,
  • 72A Pape will operate during weekday peak periods only. 72C Pape will operate during all travel periods.

NEW ROUTE: 114 Queens Quay East

  • 114 Queens Quay East will replace 72B Pape providing service between Union Station and Commissioners Street via Queens Quay East to George Brown College – Waterfront Campus and through the Port Lands

TRAVEL TIP: To get to Union Station, take the 72C Pape bus and transfer to 114 Queens Quay East at the Lake Shore Blvd/Carlaw Avenue stop.

For an alternative route to King Station/the financial district, catch the 503 Kingston Rd streetcar at Queen Street/Carlaw Avenue.

To accommodate 25 Don Mills and 925 Don Mills Express at Broadview Station, the following service changes will also take effect:

8 Broadview | 62 Mortimer

  • 8 Broadview and 62 Mortimer (eastbound and westbound) will serve Broadview Station on-street and will be extended from Broadview Station to provide a continuous route to Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.

The second phase of service changes will be in effect from May 12 to October 5, 2024, while the terminal is fully closed for major construction.

From March 25 to 31, Metrolinx will be building two temporary bus bays outside Pape Station on Lipton Avenue to accommodate the alternate bus service configurations during the partial terminal closure. During this work, bus access to the station will be maintained. Customers and nearby residents can expect noise from construction work and equipment within the work zone.

Starting March 27, pedestrian access between Lipton Avenue and Eaton Avenue will be closed. Access to the station from Eaton Avenue will remain open. For more details, read Metrolinx’s Community Bulletin.

All routes will continue to serve the station and station access will be maintained. Subway service at Pape Station may be disrupted intermittently by ventilation and sewer pipe relocation work in the subway tunnel; customers will be informed in advance.

Bay 1 will be for drop off only for all routes.

    • 81 Thorncliffe Park will move from Bay 3 to an on-street stop in front of the station main entrance on Pape Avenue.

Wheel-Trans will move from Bay 3 to Bay 2 within the terminal, shifting slightly west to avoid the active work zone
