Take the TTC this Labour Day weekend

There are no scheduled subway closures this Saturday, Sunday or Monday, making the TTC the fastest and most affordable way to travel to the many events across the city this long weekend.

Service increased on routes to the CNE

The TTC has increased service on the 29 Dufferin, 929 Dufferin Express, 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes, and introduced CNE express shuttle buses from Dufferin Station, until Sept. 7., to make it easier to take the TTC to and from the Canadian National Exhibition. TTC staff will be available at key locations and subway stations to assist customers, answer questions, and provide directions.  

Route diversions due to events

• 85 and 385 Sheppard East and 985 Sheppard East Express buses will divert both ways on Dean Park and Meadowvale roads, from 12 a.m. Sept. 4 until 5 a.m., Sept. 7, due to the Mega Blast event. Stops along Sheppard Ave. between Dean Park and Meadowvale roads will not be served.
• 12A Kingston Road and 69 Warden South buses will divert both ways on Birchmount Rd., Highview Ave., McIntosh St. and Claremore Ave., from 12 a.m. Sept. 5 until 7 a.m. Sept. 7, due to the Taste of Bangladesh. Stops on Danforth Ave. between Birchmount and Kingston roads, and Kingston Rd. between Danforth and Claremore avenues will not be served.

Labour Day service

On Mon., Sept. 7, the TTC will run on a holiday service schedule which means the TTC will follow a Sunday service schedule but start earlier, at approximately 6 a.m. Any routes that do not normally operate on Sundays will not operate on Labour Day. The following routes will be adjusted for the annual Labour Day Parade on Mon., Sept. 7:

• 29 Dufferin and 929 Dufferin Express buses will redirect at Dundas St. W. from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
• 63 Ossington buses will divert both ways along Dundas St. W., Bathurst St., and King St., from 8:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
• 501A Queen streetcars will operate along a split route. Streetcars in the west end will run between Humber Loop and Dundas West Station via Roncesvalles Ave., while 501 Queen streetcars in the east end will run between Neville Park Loop and Church St. before turning back via Richmond St., Victoria St., and Adelaide St.
• 501 Queen replacement buses will operate beginning at 7 a.m. between Sunnyside Loop to Queen St. E
• 503 Kingston Road replacement buses will operate from Bingham Loop to King St. and Fraser Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• 504 King streetcars will operate between Broadview Station and Charlotte Loop, and replacement buses will run between Dundas West Station and Elm Grove Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst streetcars will only operate eastbound from Exhibition Loop, from 5 p.m. to the end of service. The final westbound stop will be on Fleet St at Fort York Blvd.

Streetcar service on the 510 Spadina and 511 Bathurst routes will be maintained during the parade, however, customers can expect delays when travelling along these routes.

Looking ahead to next week, the following changes will be in effect.

Tuesday to Friday – Early nightly subway closures between St Clair and College stations

Tues., Sept. 8 to Fri., Sept. 11 subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair and College stations will end at midnight each night for planned track work.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available; customers can speak to TTC staff for assistance.

Summerhill and Rosedale stations will be closed, along with the Dundonald St., entrance at Wellesley Station. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, PRESTO Ticket and connect to surface routes. Regular subway service will resume each morning at 6 a.m.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
