Upcoming subway closures and Thanksgiving Day holiday service
Customers travelling on the TTC this Thanksgiving weekend should plan ahead for scheduled subway closures on Line 2, a bus diversion for the Scarborough Street Festival and holiday service on Monday, Thanksgiving Day.
Weekend closure on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Jane
Subway service on Line 2 between Kipling and Jane stations will be replaced by shuttle buses starting at midnight on Fri., Oct. 9, until 6 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 12, while crews complete important infrastructure upgrades between Islington and Royal York stations. The work includes installing new communications and signal equipment, upgrading electrical connections that supply power to trains, and replacing power cables at Royal York Station. Crews will also install additional CCTV camera cabling on storage tracks near Kipling Station to enhance safety and improve monitoring of trains when they are not in service. Completing this work will strengthen the reliability of the subway's power, signal and communications systems and help reduce the risk of service disruptions.
TTC staff will be available to assist customers and answer questions, and Wheel-Trans service will be available upon request.
The Grenview entrance at Royal York Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, buy a PRESTO Ticket, and connect to surface routes.
Late opening on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, Mon., Oct. 12
Subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between St George and Broadview stations will be replaced by shuttle buses until 11 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 12, due to beam inspection and replacement along the Prince Edward Viaduct. The improvements will help ensure a smoother ride for customers and maintain the safety and long-term reliability of the viaduct.
TTC staff will be available to assist customers and answer questions they may have, and Wheel-Trans service will be available upon request.
Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed, as will the Yonge St. entrance to Line 2 at Bloor-Yonge Station. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, PRESTO Ticket, and connect to surface routes.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
Events
12 Kingston Road buses will divert via Markham Rd., Eglinton Ave. E and Kingston Rd. from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 10, and from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 11, during the Scarborough Street Festival.
