TTC adjusting service beginning November 1
Beginning Sun., Nov. 1, the TTC will implement a number of service changes across the network, to accommodate major City of Toronto infrastructure projects, the restoration of streetcar service along the 501 Queen route following streetcar track renewal work and service improvements to enhance the customer experience.
As part of these changes, the TTC will also adjust weekday service on Lines 1 Yonge-University and 2 Bloor-Danforth to improve service reliability. On Line 5 Eglinton, customers will benefit from reduced travel times, more frequent service, and enhanced service reliability across the Eglinton corridor during all time periods.
King Street West watermain construction
In preparation for upcoming City watermain replacement construction on King St. W. between Close Ave. and Dufferin St. and Portland St. and Spadina Ave., the following service changes will be implemented:
- 504/304 King streetcars will operate as a single branch between Dundas West Station and Broadview stations.
- 504C/304C King replacement buses will operate seven days a week between Sunnyside Loop (Roncesvalles Ave.) and Distillery Loop (Front St. E. and Cherry St.).
- 503 Kingston Rd replacement buses will be extended west to terminate at Dufferin Gate Loop.
- 508 Lake Shore service will be suspended.
Streetcar service restored along Queen St.
With construction at Long Branch Loop wrapping up, 501/301 Queen and 507 Long Branch streetcars will once again service Long Branch Loop. The temporary 301L Queen and 507/507M Long Branch bus replacement services will no longer operate.
New service connections to Sunnybrook Hospital
The 52F Lawrence West route will be extended to Sunnybrook Hospital, and early and late-evening service will be added to the route.
The 124 Sunnybrook and 11C Bayview routes will be discontinued and will be replaced by the 11B Bayview, which will operate between Lawrence Station and Sunnybrook Hospital. Service along this route will be added in the late evening period on weekends.
Express route changes
The following express routes will be changed as follows:
- 903 Kennedy Station-Scarborough Express will be renamed 903 Kennedy-Progress Express to better reflect the route’s destination. Buses will operate between Kennedy Station and Centennial College Bus Terminal.
- 904 Sheppard-Kennedy Express will be renamed 904 Don Mills-Scarborough Express to reflect its new route. Buses will operate between Scarborough Centre and Don Mills stations. With this change, this route will no longer service the Scarborough Busway between Scarborough Centre and Kennedy stations.
- 939 Finch Express service will be adjusted to improve express bus service through Scarborough. 939C Finch Express buses will operate in the midday and early evening periods on week days and in the morning and afternoon periods on the weekends. With this change, this route will no longer service the Scarborough Busway between Scarborough Centre and Kennedy stations.
- 943 Kennedy Express service will be reintroduced in the peak periods on weekdays, providing improved express service between Kennedy Station and north Scarborough.
- 902 Markham Rd Express and 995 York Mills Express service will be added in the early evening period on weekdays, and the morning and afternoon periods on weekends to improve express bus service throughout Scarborough.
- 985 Sheppard East Express service will also be added in the midday period on weekdays to improve express bus service throughout Scarborough.
Service on the 200 Toronto Zoo, 201 Bluffer’s Park, 202 Cherry Beach and 203 High Park routes will be suspended and service on the 509 Harbourfront will be reduced on the weekend in some periods, due to fewer people travelling to these locations in the fall and winter.
