Upcoming subway closures and service adjustments
Starting at 11 p.m. on Fri., May 8, until 8 a.m. on Sun., May 10, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Jane stations. This closure is required for the TTC to complete critical signal infrastructure work before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026TM.
During this closure, TTC crews will replace signal equipment that controls track-level switches, which play a key role in the safe and efficient movement of trains. This project was previously deferred after the temporary grounding of TTC workcars due to hydraulic fluid spills in early April, but has been rescheduled to this weekend as the work is vital to maintaining reliable and safe subway operations, especially ahead of the FIFA World Cup games.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
The Grenview Blvd. exit/entrance at Royal York Station will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to purchase PRESTO fares, tickets and connect to surface routes.
