Take the TTC this long weekend, extra service added for Toronto Caribbean Carnival

There are no scheduled subway closures this Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, and with a wide range of transit options, the TTC is the fastest, most convenient, and eco-friendly way to get to and from all the events and attractions across Toronto.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival

Those attending the Toronto Caribbean Carnival and The Grand Parade on Sat., Aug. 2, can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth to Dufferin Station and transfer to a dedicated shuttle bus, or go to Bathurst Station and transfer to the 511 Bathurst. Customers can also take the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University to Union Station and transfer to the 509 Harbourfront.

There will be extra subway service on Lines 1 and 2 all day Saturday, and additional streetcar service on the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst. The streetcar stop at Fleet St. and Strachan Ave. will not be serviced during the event.

A dedicated Toronto Caribbean Carnival shuttle bus will operate between Dufferin Station and Dufferin Gate Loop to get revelers to and from the Parade safely. TTC personnel will be on-site to help direct customers to the appropriate boarding locations. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak to any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 2, until 4 a.m. on Sun., Aug. 3, several bus and streetcar routes will also be diverting to accommodate road closures for the event, including:

  • 80 Queensway eastbound buses will divert along The Queensway, to Roncesvalles Ave. and Howard Park Ave. Regular westbound service will be maintained.

  • 307 Bathurst Night bus will divert southbound from Fort York Blvd., via Fleet St. and Manitoba Dr. to Exhibition Loop. Regular northbound service will be maintained.

  • From 8 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 2 until 1 a.m. on Sun., Aug. 3, 503 Kingston Road streetcar service will be extended to run to Sunnyside Loop via King St. and The Queensway.

VELD Music Festival

The 101 Downsview Park will divert both ways via Service Rd., Carl Hall Rd., Chesswood Dr., Sheppard Ave., and Keele St. from 12 p.m. Fri., Aug 1, until midnight on Sun., Aug. 3. Higher than usual traffic volume is expected, which may result in delays for customers on several bus routes, including the 41 Keele, 84 Sheppard West, 101 Downsview Park, 106 Sentinel, 107 York University Heights, 108 Driftwood, 128 Stanley Greene, 941 Keele Express and 984 Sheppard West Express.
