TTC adjusting service for Back to School in September
Starting Tues., Sept. 2, the TTC is increasing service and revising schedules on its bus and streetcar networks. The improvements come in time for the new school year and the return of more people to in-office work.
“With students returning to school, and more people moving around the city, I’m happy to see the TTC increasing service to meet demand,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. “Torontonians deserve an efficient and reliable transit system, and we are working to give them that.”
“These service increases and improvements are all about getting the basics right for our customers and connecting communities and commuters with the services they need,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “The TTC will continue to review service to make sure it aligns with customer demand going forward.”
“Here at the TTC, we’re continuously analyzing customer travel patterns and system performance to ensure our service aligns with where and when it’s needed most,” said TTC CEO Mandeep S. Lali. “This is about listening to our customers, learning from the data, and leading with purpose. We’re planning further service enhancements this fall, ensuring that our customers can count on a transit system that’s safe, reliable, efficient, and responsive to their needs.”
Customers on 32 bus routes will benefit from increased service, which will facilitate students boarding at multiple locations surrounding schools, as well as persons travelling around the city. Additionally, the following routes will have service adjusted to make it easier for customers to travel to and from secondary and post-secondary institutions, including the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and Centennial College Progress Campus.
