Upcoming subway closures and service adjustments

This Sat., Nov. 2, and Sun., Nov. 3, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Victoria Park and Kennedy stations. The full weekend closure will enable TTC crews to conduct track-level work, including replacing a rail switch at Warden Station.

A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

All subway stations will be open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.

Monday to Friday – Early nightly subway closure between Kipling and Keele Stations

Mon., Nov. 4 through Fri., Nov. 8, subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Keele stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. to accommodate track work.

Nightly single-track operation between Sheppard West and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Stations

Beginning at 11 p.m. nightly from Mon., Nov. 4 to Thurs., Nov. 7, there will be limited subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Sheppard West and Vaughan Metropolitan stations to enable track work on the southbound tracks at Downsview Park Station.

Customers can expect delays of up to 20 minutes if travelling through this area. Subways operating between Sheppard West and Finch West Stations will operate on a single track in both directions. Customers will need to change trains at Sheppard West Station to continue their journey northbound or southbound. Regular service will resume the following morning at 6 a.m.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

Reduced subway speed zones

The TTC is advising customers travelling on several portions of Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth of reduced speed zones, which may result in longer than normal travel times along certain sections of the subway.

As a safety precaution, the TTC reduces speed along sections of rail where maintenance is required, allowing trains to run safely during service hours while minimizing disruptions to customers. They also protect workers who may be required at track level to conduct routine or emergency inspections.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the additional time they may need for their trips. A complete list of current reduced speed zones can be found on the TTC website at: https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service/Reduced-Speed-Zones.
