TTC Stuff-the-Buses gearing up to collect new, unwrapped toys

On Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30, Toronto Transit Commission employees will be holding the annual Stuff-the-Bus Toy Drive at participating Walmart stores across Toronto. This year, six of the TTC's 12-metre buses will be set up as drop-off stops for new, unwrapped toys, which will be donated to the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness.

The Stuff-the-Bus weekend drive officially kicks off on Q107's Derringer in the Morning on Friday, November 28, from 6-10 a.m., when TTC CEO Andy Byford will be accepting donations on a bus outside the Corus Quay Building at 25 Dockside Dr. The bus will swing by George Brown's Waterfront Campus where a collection of toys will be taking place for the TTC, then stop in front of the Walmart store at Eglinton and Pharmacy from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Where: A TTC bus will be accepting toy donations at each of these Walmart stores:

- 165 N Queen Street (Hwy. 427/Queensway).
- 799 Milner Avenue (Milner/Morningside).
- 1900 Eglinton Avenue (Eglinton/Pharmacy).
- 2525 St. Clair Avenue West (St. Clair/Runnymede).
- 3132 Eglinton Avenue East (Eglinton/Markham).
- 3757 Keele Street (Keele/Finch).

TTC bus operator Kevin Kane and his team of volunteer operators have been conducting Stuff-the-Bus holiday toy drives for several years. Last year's drive provided Christmas gifts to more than 500 families with children. This year, the group hopes to raise more than $70,000 worth of donations. To date, the toy drive has helped more than 3,500 families, and 12,000 children, have a Christmas. The toy drive has collected approximately $250,000 worth of toys since it first started in 2007.
