Capacity improvements

Fall 2018

The TTC is implementing measures to improve service on Line 1 and over 30 of the  TTC's busiest bus routes. These changes are being implemented thanks to increased funding to reduce crowding in 2018 and go beyond seasonal service adjustments usually performed at this time of the year. These service improvements will  mean reduced wait times, more reliable service and an overall enhanced transit network.

Line 1

In spring 2018, two “run as directed” trains were added to help reduce gaps during peak periods, along with increased service to northwest Toronto between 6 and 9 p.m., and improved crowd management with increased staff presence at Bloor-Yonge and St George stations.

In fall 2018, we will be adding:

  • One additional “run-as-directed” train to help reduce gaps during peak periods.
  • Infrastructure improvements so that trains can better move in and out of Wilson Yard, resulting in more reliable and predictable service.
  • Increased service to northwest Toronto in the evening (between 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.) north of Sheppard West Station.
