Keeping transit moving during construction

In July 2025, City Council approved temporary transit priority measures (TPMs) to support diverted streetcar and bus service during construction.

Key TPMs include:

  • Extending existing "No Stopping" prohibitions along Queen Street West (Shaw Street to Roncesvalles Avenue) and Shaw Street (King Street West to Queen Street West).
  • Installing turning restrictions at the King & Shaw and Queen & Shaw intersections.
  • Supporting the 29 Dufferin bus diversion with additional "No Stopping" prohibitions on certain streets in Liberty Village to facilitate bus turns and end-of-line operations.

These measures aim to improve service speed and reliability for an estimated 91,000 daily streetcar riders and 42,000 bus riders.

City crews have updated parking and traffic signage. Once construction wraps up in mid-November 2025, parking will be restored and turn restriction signage removed.
