Track Renewal and Overhead Upgrades

College Street and McCaul Street

Planned work

Scheduled to start October 2025, the City of Toronto and Toronto Transit Commission will begin streetcar track replacement at the intersection of College Street and McCaul Street. As a result of these infrastructure upgrades, 506/306 Carlton streetcars will be diverting around the area as early as Sunday, October 12.

TTC will also use this opportunity to upgrade the overhead infrastructure on College Street from Spadina Avenue to Bay Street, and McCaul Street from Queen Street to College Street.

Expected timelines and travel impacts

Track work: October to November 2025
Overhead work: Fall 2025 to end of year

During track work, a full road closure will be in effect. Overhead upgrades will involve partial lane reductions.

TTC service impacts

506/306 Carlton streetcars are scheduled to divert via Spadina Avenue, Dundas Street West, and Bay Street to regular routing.

Regular streetcar service is expected to resume once all work is completed by end of year.

94 Wellesley bus service will be increased and operate between Ossington and Castle Frank stations.
