Maintenance Summer Program
Each summer, the TTC offers a Maintenance Summer Program that gives post-secondary students the opportunity to build transferable skills, gain hands-on experience, and support the day-to-day maintenance of Toronto’s transit system.
The program runs from early May to late August, aligning with students’ summer break. It’s a great way to learn new skills, explore different career paths, and earn money while contributing to meaningful work across the city.
What to Expect
Our goal is to provide as many students as possible with valuable work experience while supporting the TTC’s maintenance needs. We offer a variety of entry-level and specialized roles across Toronto, with most positions in unionized environments.
Some jobs involve outdoor work, while others require specific licences, experience, or technical skills. Positions are grouped into three categories:
- Landscaper
- Car house Helper
- Escalator Mechanic
- Janitor (Subway & Surface)
- Upholstery Helper
- And many more maintenance-related roles
When applying, students are asked to select the category that best fits their interests. Our recruitment team uses this information—along with your resume—to match you with the most suitable opportunities.
