Community Bus

Connecting you to your community

TTC’s Community Bus service connects customers to a variety of popular destinations along unique neighbourhood routes. The Community Bus stops at the front door of various buildings and landmarks, including local shops, community centres, health care facilities and seniors’ residences. While it resembles a regular Wheel-Trans vehicle, anyone can ride a Community Bus — not just Wheel-Trans customers.

NEW! 406 Scarborough-Guildwood

On June 24, 2025, the TTC will begin a nine-month pilot for a new Community Bus route to improve the existing network, better meet the needs of customers in the east end of Toronto and attract new customers.

The new 406 Scarborough-Guildwood will operate between Scarborough Centre Station and Guildwood GO Station every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Buses will run every 60 minutes, stopping at key shopping, recreation and healthcare locations along the route.

Boarding the Community Bus

Community Buses serve all identified TTC and Wheel-Trans bus stops along their respective routes. Buses can also be flagged down at any point along the route.

The Community Bus route number is located on the bus stop pole in grey. Customers are encouraged to arrive at the bus stop or curb a few minutes before the bus is expected to arrive. This will ensure the driver has ample time to see you and stop the vehicle so you can board.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are Community Bus routes included in Trip Planner with stops and times?

Scheduled trip times for Community Bus routes will appear on the TTC website and trip planning apps, but real-time data/tracking isn’t available.

  • How many customers can the Community Bus carry? How do those numbers change when it is serving customers using wheelchairs or with other accessibility needs?

The Community Bus can carry up to 11 ambulatory customers; however, this capacity is reduced when mobility devices are on board. Each mobility device requires the space of two seats, while larger devices require the space of three. A maximum of three large mobility devices can be accommodated at any given time.

  • Will there be audible and visual stop announcements?

Yes, similar to conventional transit, community buses are equipped with both audible stop announcements and visual displays inside the vehicle. Route information is also displayed on the front and side of the bus.

  • How can I identify a Community Bus stop?

A Community Bus route is identified by a grey-coloured lozenge displaying the route number.

  • Do I have to be at a designated Community Bus stop to board a Community Bus?

Community Buses are not limited to picking up passengers at designated bus stops — customers may also flag the bus anywhere along its route.
