Upcoming service adjustments for planned maintenance and infrastructure upgrades

The TTC is advising customers of planned service adjustments next week to accommodate essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades on Line 1 Yonge-University, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth and the St. Clair West corridor.

Monday to Friday – Early nightly closures between St Clair and College stations

Subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair and College stations will end at 11:59 p.m., each night from Mon., Sept 28, through Fri., Oct. 2 for important track work required to improve subway speeds between Wellesley and College stations. Crews will work to replace aging track infrastructure to improve travel times and provide customers with a smoother ride.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently between stations. TTC staff will be available to assist customers and Wheel-Trans service will be available upon request. College Station is not yet accessible; customers who require an accessible connection should exit the train at Queen Station and take the 97C Yonge bus northbound on Yonge St. or speak with a TTC employee for further assistance.

Summerhill and Rosedale stations will be closed, as well as the Dundonald St. entrance at Wellesley Station. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, buy a PRESTO Ticket, and to connect to surface routes.

Monday to Thursday – Single track operation between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West stations

From Mon., Sept. 28 until Thurs., Oct. 1, starting at 11 p.m., subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West stations will operate on one side of the tracks to allow TTC crews to complete work on the opposite track, as well as within the tunnel near York University Station. Crews will also be performing maintenance on the communications equipment at Highway 407 Station. Subway service will continue during this work, but customers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes when travelling through the area due to the single line operation. This work is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service reliability and support a better customer experience.

Customers travelling southbound from Finch West Station will board their train on the northbound platform. Customers will be required to transfer trains at Finch West Station and use the southbound platform to continue their northbound journey. TTC staff will be on site to assist customers during their trip.

While most subway maintenance is completed overnight when the system is closed, some larger projects require early nightly and weekend closures to allow crews safe and uninterrupted access to complete critical infrastructure improvements.
