TTC fills more than 2,000 backpacks during annual school supplies drive

The TTC is once again proud to share that its annual Stuff-the-Bus school supply and backpack drive filled 2,065 backpacks for Toronto students, more than doubling its target.

The backpacks and school supplies collected through the drive helped local students and families start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed. The drive builds on last year’s collection of 1,200 backpacks.

“Our staff keep this city moving every day, but their commitment to the communities we serve extends far beyond daily operations,” said TTC CEO Mandeep S. Lali. “The Stuff-the-Bus school supply drive is a great example of that spirit in action. Led by employees and supported by colleagues and our customers, this year’s campaign exceeded expectations and helped more than 2,000 students start the school year with the supplies they need to help them succeed.”

The drive is organized and run by the TTC's Fare Enforcement and Collection Community Engagement Unit, in partnership with TTC’s Recreation Council. TTC employees coordinated several opportunities for community and staff donations through opportunities at local shopping centres, TTC work locations, and at the Line 5 celebration held on Aug. 29.

All backpacks and school supplies were distributed in partnership with Toronto Police Services and community groups across Toronto and the GTA.
