Upcoming scheduled nightly subway closures

Next week, there will be two separate early nightly subway closures, one on Line 1 Yonge-University between York Mills and Eglinton stations, and one on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Jane stations, for planned infrastructure work.

Monday to Thursday – Early nightly closures between York Mills and Eglinton stations

From Mon., Oct. 19, to Thurs., Oct. 22, subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between York Mills and Eglinton stations will end at 11 p.m. each night for planned maintenance work, installation of communication cables and completion of infrastructure upgrades. Work includes improving tunnel drainage and installing new electrical cables and power connections that supply electricity to subway trains and support reliable service.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with TTC staff for assistance.

The Ranleigh and Bedford Park entrances at Lawrence Station will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO Tickets, and connect to surface routes.

Monday to Friday – Early nightly closures between Kipling and Jane stations

From Mon., Oct. 19, to Fri., Oct. 23, subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Jane stations will end at midnight each night to allow crews to carry out track maintenance near Islington Station and maintenance on track switches near Kipling Station. During the closures, crews will also install communication cables between Old Mill and Royal York stations and repair sections of the tunnel floor and maintenance walkways between Royal York and Old Mill stations. This work supports the ongoing state of good repair of the subway system and helps ensure reliable service for customers.

This work will continue into the weekend, and subway service will be replaced by buses between Kipling and Jane stations on Saturday and Kipling to Keele stations on Sunday.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with TTC staff for assistance.

The Grenview entrance at Royal York Station will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO Tickets, and connect to surface routes.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
