Upcoming planned nightly subway closures

The TTC is advising customers of upcoming nightly subway closures next week on Lines 1 and 2 for planned maintenance work and infrastructure improvements.

Monday to Thursday – Early nightly closures between Lawrence West and St George stations

From Mon., Oct. 26, to Thurs., Oct. 29, subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between Lawrence West and St George stations will end at 11:59 p.m. each night for track maintenance, including replacing rail parts to remove reduced speed zones in this area of the system, allowing trains to operate at normal speeds and improving travel times for customers. Crews will also take advantage of the subway closure to conduct tunnel repairs near Dupont Station and inspect infrastructure at track level throughout the closure area.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with TTC staff for assistance.

Glencairn and Dupont station will be closed, as well as the Heath Street entrance at St Clair West Station, and the Kendal Avenue entrance at Spadina Station. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO Tickets, and connect to surface routes.

Friday – Early closure between St George and Broadview stations

On Fri., Oct. 30, subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between St George and Broadview stations will end at 10 p.m. for planned maintenance work and advertisement installation.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with TTC staff for assistance.

Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed, as well as the Yonge Street entrance to Line 2 at Bloor-Yonge Station. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO Tickets, and connect to surface routes.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
