Upcoming nightly subway closures
The TTC is advising customers of upcoming nightly subway closures next week on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth for infrastructure, signal and communications upgrades that will help improve reliability and modernize the subway system.
Monday to Wednesday – Early nightly closures between York Mills and Eglinton stations
Subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between York Mills and Eglinton stations will end at 11 p.m. each night from Mon., Oct. 5, through Wed., Oct. 7 for planned maintenance work, as well as communication cable installation as part of the ongoing modernization of the subway system and communications network in this area of the system. Crews will also install and connect new track-level drainage equipment, helping prevent water buildup and protect subway infrastructure.
Shuttle buses will operate frequently between stations. TTC staff will be available to assist customers and Wheel-Trans service will be available upon request.
The Ranleigh and Bedford Park entrances at Lawrence Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, buy a PRESTO Ticket, and connect to surface routes.
Monday to Friday – Early nightly closures between Kipling to Jane stations
Subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Jane stations will end at 11:59 p.m. each night from Mon., Oct. 5, through Fri., Oct. 9 while crews perform maintenance work on the tracks near Islington Station and track switch upgrades near Kipling Station. Crews will also continue installation and testing of the communication and signal equipment between Islington and Royal York and Old Mill and Jane stations. This work will improve travel times, provide customers with a smoother ride, and continue with modernization efforts of the subway system.

The Grenview entrance at Royal York Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, buy a PRESTO Ticket, and connect to surface routes.
