Take the TTC to events in the city this weekend

The TTC is advising customers of two different subway closures on the western portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth this weekend, as well as service adjustments related to construction projects across the city. With many events taking place across Toronto, including the TTC’s Halloween Fest at Danforth Garage, customers are encouraged to plan their trips in advance.

TTC Halloween Fest at Danforth Garage

TTC will be hosting Halloween Fest at the Danforth Garage, 1627 Danforth Ave., near Coxwell, Sat. Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Oct. 25.  Festivities will include a haunted bus bay, trick-or-treating and a BBQ. Admission is $7, and kids under two are free. All proceeds go to the United Way Greater Toronto.

Two different single day closures on Line 2

There will be two different single day closures on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth this weekend which will impact subway service between Kipling and Jane stations on Sat., Oct. 24 and between Kipling and Keele stations on Sun., Oct. 25, to allow crews to complete track work.  During these closures, TTC crews will complete maintenance, inspection and infrastructure upgrades along Line 2 between Kipling and Old Mill stations, including track, signal and traction power upgrades, accessibility improvements at Islington Station, and installation of equipment to support the future the Automatic Train Control (ATC) signaling system in various spots across the closure area. Completing this work now will help improve reliability and safety, and will provide customers with a smoother ride, while reducing the risk of future delays and service disruptions.

Shuttle buses will operate frequently between stations. TTC staff will be available to assist customers and Wheel-Trans service will be available upon request. Customers can also travel on a 149 Etobicoke-Bloor bus between Kipling and Jane stations.

Throughout the weekend, the Grenview entrance at Royal York Station will be closed. On Sunday, Runnymede and High Park stations will also be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, buy a PRESTO Ticket, and connect to surface routes.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
