Statement from Mandeep S. Lali, TTC CEO, on reaching a tentative agreement with CUPE Local 2
This afternoon, the TTC and CUPE Local 2 reached a negotiated tentative agreement.
From the outset, our priority has been to reach an agreement that is fair to employees, aligned with comparable industry contracts, and is affordable for customers, as well as the City and its taxpayers.
The agreement recognizes the important work of the more than 700 skilled tradespeople represented by CUPE Local 2 and assists them in being aligned with industry standards. This allows the TTC to attract, retain, and compensate these workers with wage levels that are more in line with market comparators.
This one-year bridge deal provides immediate certainty for our employees, our customers, and the city. It provides the stability we need to continue delivering service today, including providing world-class service during the FIFA World Cup 2026TM.
As the agreement still needs to be ratified by the union membership and the TTC Board, we cannot share further details at this time.
I want to thank our employees for the work they do every day to support our customers, and I want to acknowledge the patience and trust of the people who rely on the TTC.
