TTC unveils Bacchanal Bus for 2026 Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade
The TTC’s Bacchanal Bus is hitting the road again this Toronto Caribbean Carnival season, under the theme “Moving to the rhythm of Toronto”. This specially wrapped bus is designed to showcase TTC’s participation in the 2026 Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade and mark Caribbean Heritage Month.
“Caribbean culture and people have shaped so much of the Toronto we know today, from food to music and so much more,” said Mayor Olivia Chow. “I am pleased that the TTC is highlighting these contributions by participating in the celebrations during August.”
“The TTC connects the people, neighbourhoods and cultures that make our city so vibrant,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “The Bacchanal Bus is a celebration of Caribbean heritage and the important role that Caribbean culture continues to play in shaping Toronto’s identity.”
“We’re proud to once again celebrate Caribbean heritage and culture by participating in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade,” said TTC CEO Mandeep S. Lali. “Much like Toronto itself, our strength at the TTC comes from many cultures, experiences and voices coming together. The theme ‘Moving to the rhythm of Toronto’ reflects our commitment to celebrating the diversity, energy and cultural richness that make our city unique.”
The Bacchanal Bus was unveiled this week during a Caribbean Heritage Month and Toronto Carnival celebration at TTC’s Wilson Division.
First held in 1967, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival has grown into the largest cultural festival in North America. Now in its 59th year, the festival attracts visitors from around the world and celebrates the rich traditions, creativity and contributions of Caribbean communities.
This weekend, the bus will travel alongside more than 300 TTC employees and their families during the 2026 Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade. Throughout August, it will operate on routes serving communities across northwest and central Toronto, giving customers the opportunity to ride in a vibrant vehicle that reflects the spirit, colour and energy of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival.
An internal multimedia campaign is also running through August, featuring TTC employees sharing their connections to Toronto and their Caribbean homelands, highlighting the diversity of experiences and cultures that help keep Toronto moving to its own unique rhythm.
