TTC adjusting service across several routes starting Sunday, July 26
As Toronto transitions out of FIFA World Cup 2026TM operations, the TTC will adjust service on several routes beginning Sun., July 26, while also implementing temporary route changes to support upcoming infrastructure improvements in the downtown core.
The service adjustments reflect changing travel demand following the tournament and the start of City of Toronto and TTC construction projects designed to improve transit infrastructure and reliability.
Service returning to normal after FIFA World Cup 2026™
Following the conclusion of FIFA World Cup 2026™, the TTC will return several routes to their regular service levels as ridership patterns normalize.
Service will be adjusted on the 504 King, 509 Harbourfront, 511 Bathurst and 929 Dufferin Express routes. The 510A Spadina streetcar branch will resume its regular operation between Spadina Station and Union Station.
As work continues to remove the temporary streetcar platforms on Fleet St., customers using the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes will see some temporary stop changes through the end of July. During this period, westbound 509 Harbourfront and southbound 511 Bathurst streetcars will bypass the stop at Fleet St. and Fort York Blvd., while eastbound and northbound service will continue to serve the stop. Regular routing and stop service will resume once removal is complete.
Service on overnight routes introduced or modified for the tournament will also return to their regular operation. The 309 Harbourfront and 311 Bathurst night streetcar routes will be discontinued, and the 307 Bathurst night bus will resume its regular routing between Steeles Ave. W. and Exhibition Loop.
The TTC will continue to provide enhanced service along Toronto’s waterfront during busy summer periods to support seasonal demand.
Carlton streetcars to divert for downtown construction
Beginning at 11 p.m., Sun. July 26, streetcar service on the 506/306 Carlton route will divert between Bay and Parliament streets to accommodate sewer, track and overhead infrastructure work on College and Carlton streets between Bay to Church streets.
Streetcars will operate via Dundas St. W. through the construction zone.
Replacement buses will operate between Spadina Station and Broadview Ave. at Gerrard St. E. to maintain service for customers along the affected section of the route.
This construction is part of ongoing work to renew critical transit and City infrastructure. Construction is expected to continue through to the end of 2026 and will help ensure the long-term reliability of streetcar service in downtown Toronto.
