Take the TTC when travelling around the city this weekend
The TTC is a great way to get to the many events happening across the city this weekend, including the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), but there are some service adjustments customers should be aware of as they plan their trip.
Service increased on routes to the CNE
The TTC has increased service on the 29 Dufferin, 929 Dufferin Express, 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes, and introduced CNE express shuttle buses from Dufferin Station, until Sept. 7., to make it easier for people to get to the CNE. TTC staff will be available at key locations and subway stations to assist customers with information and provide directions.
Extra service for BTS concerts at Rogers Stadium
The TTC is also increasing service for BTS fans heading to Rogers Stadium on Sat., Aug. 22 and Sun., Aug. 23.
To help concertgoers travel to Rogers Stadium, additional service will be operating on Line 1 Yonge-University. Customers are encouraged to take Line 1 to Downsview Park, Sheppard West, or Wilson stations, with Downsview Park being the closest to the venue. All three stations are within walking distance, and additional TTC staff will be positioned at each location to assist concertgoers heading to the stadium.
For customers with accessibility needs, a dedicated shuttle service will run between Wilson Station and Rogers Stadium prior to and following each concert. Extra buses will be deployed on routes 84 Sheppard West and 984 Sheppard West Express, and the 101 Downsview Park route will be extended to Sheppard West Station from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m., diverting via Sheppard Ave. and Keele St.
The TTC and Live Nation Canada have partnered for a second year to offer concertgoers free rides home from Rogers Stadium. Fans can show their concert ticket to TTC staff at Downsview Park, Sheppard West and Wilson stations after the show to access their complimentary trip home on the TTC.
Subway service changes on Sunday
This Sun., Aug. 23, subway service on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, between St George and Chester stations, will start at 11 a.m., due to beam replacement on the Prince Edward Viaduct.
Shuttle buses will be operating frequently, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers can speak with TTC staff for assistance.
Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed, as well as the Yonge St. entrance to Line 2 at Bloor-Yonge Station. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
