TTC offers free rides on Warriors' Day for military personnel and veterans
In honour of Warriors’ Day this coming Saturday, the TTC will offer free rides to active members of the Canadian military and veterans, along with one companion each, on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers can show their military ID, service medals or ribbons to receive free access to TTC buses, streetcars, Wheel-Trans and the subway and LRT systems.
“Here in Toronto, we have honoured our veterans and service members with the Warriors’ Day Parade since 1921 – a tradition that goes back to the First World War,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. “The day is an occasion to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many Canadians, past and present, in service to their country. I’m proud that the city continues to support this important occasion each year.”
“The TTC is proud to honour those who have served our country,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “Providing free transit to Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers on Warriors’ Day is a gesture of our profound appreciation for their work and dedication. The TTC provides this service every year and is proud to continue its longstanding support of the Canadian military.”
“As a salute to Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers, the TTC Honour Guard will march in the Warriors’ Day Parade at the Canadian National Exhibition,” said TTC CEO Mandeep S. Lali. “Warriors’ Day is an opportunity to express our gratitude to all those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces.”
Each year, the TTC recognizes the valuable contributions of the Canadian military, veterans and peacekeepers by providing them free travel on Warriors’ Day and on Remembrance Day.
