Shuttle buses temporarily replacing subway service between Eglinton and Sheppard-Yonge stations

As part of our ongoing maintenance work, TTC crews identified small pieces of fireproofing material at track level between Eglinton and York Mills stations on Line 1 today. It is known that some of this material contains asbestos.

To ensure the safety of customers and employees, subway service between Eglinton and Sheppard stations was temporarily suspended today at 6:30 p.m. and is being replaced by up to 80 shuttle buses for the remainder of regular service when the Blue Night bus service takes over.

While our crews will be working tirelessly overnight to address this situation, this closure may extend into tomorrow morning.

Further updates will be provided tomorrow morning, starting at 5:30 a.m. via @TTCnotices on X and on our website through e-alerts, with updates as required throughout the morning rush hour.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Safety remains our top priority.

The TTC conducts regular air quality testing and maintains a multi-year asbestos removal program. The most recent test on Sept. 26, 2025, confirmed safe air quality.

This proactive closure ensures we can address the matter and mitigate any potential risk.
