Weekend subway closures and service adjustments

The TTC is advising customers of upcoming service changes this weekend, including two planned subway closures, a late subway opening and service adjustments for events and construction.

Line 1 – Full weekend closure between St George and St Andrew stations

This Sat., July 26 and Sun., July 27, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and St Andrew stations to accommodate scheduled track work and station upgrades.

Shuttle buses will not be operating for this closure. Instead, customers are encouraged to travel along the Yonge side of Line 1 and connect to east and west bus and streetcar routes to travel within the downtown core. Wheel-Trans buses will be available for any customer requiring assistance.

Museum, Queen’s Park, St Patrick and Osgoode stations will be closed during this time. All other subway stations will remain open during the closure for customers to purchase PRESTO fares, tickets and connect to surface routes.

Line 2 – Saturday only closure between Kipling and Keele stations

On Sat., July 26, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Kipling and Keele stations to accommodate scheduled track work and cable installations.

Shuttle buses will run in place of subway service. Extra Wheel-Trans buses will be available for any customer requiring assistance. Customers with accessibility needs can also take the 149 Etobicoke-Bloor Accessible Shuttle buses which run between Kipling and High Park stations.

Runnymede and High Park stations will be closed during this time. All other subway stations will remain open during the closure for customers to purchase PRESTO fares, tickets and connect to surface routes.

Line 2 - Sunday late opening between St George and Broadview stations

This Sun., July 27, subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, between St George and Broadview stations, will start at 11 a.m. to accomodate beam replacement work on the Prince Edward Viaduct.

Shuttle buses will run in place of subway service, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding locations. Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
