Upcoming subway closures and service adjustments
The TTC is advising customers of two planned subway closures this weekend, as well as bus and streetcar route diversions for construction projects and events taking place across the city.
Line 1 – Weekend subway closure between Osgoode and College stations
This Sat., Dec. 6 and Sun., Dec. 7, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Osgoode and College stations for planned track work.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance.
King and Queen stations will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to purchase PRESTO fares, tickets and connect to surface routes.
Line 2 – Weekend subway closure between Warden and Kennedy stations
This Sat., Dec. 6 and Sun., Dec 7, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Warden and Kennedy stations during planned work on the Scarborough subway extension.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance.
All subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets, and connect to surface routes.
Construction
- From 11 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 5, until 4 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 6, 501/301 Queen streetcars will redirect onto King St. W. between Spadina Ave. and Roncesvalles Ave. during city work at Queen St. W. and Shaw St. Replacement buses will run between Queen St. W. and Bay St. and Sunnyside Loop.
- Starting at 7 a.m. on Mon., Dec. 8 to 7 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 10, 94 Wellsley buses will run along Bloor St. W. between Spadina Ave. and St George St. during sewer repairs along Harbord St.
- From 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Mon., Dec. 8, 512/312 St Clair streetcars will be replaced by buses from St Clair West Station to Gunns Loop during City of Toronto and TTC infrastructure work.
- 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tues., Dec. 9 and Wed., Dec 10, 512/312 St Clair streetcars will run between Gunns Loop and Bathurst Station via Vaughan Rd. and Bathurst St. during overhead wire work at St Clair West Station. Replacement buses will operate between St Clair Station and Oakwood Loop. To accommodate the work, service on the 33 Forest Hill, 90 Vaughan Road and 126 Christie bus routes will also be adjusted.
Events
From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 6, service on the 44 Kipling South, 110C Islington South and 507 Long Branch routes will be adjusted during the Etobicoke Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade.
Monday to Friday – Early nightly closures on Line 1
Mon., Dec. 8, to Wed., Dec. 10, and Fri., Dec. 12, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Osgoode and College stations will end nightly at 12 a.m. for planned track work. On Thurs., Dec. 11 only, the nightly closure will be extended to include the section of Line 1 between Osgoode and Bloor stations.
A frequent shuttle bus service will run, stopping at each station along the route. Wheel-Trans service will be available for any customer requiring assistance.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
