Weekend travel information and upcoming subway closures


Subway early closure – Jane to Ossington

 

This Sat., Sept. 9, subway service on the portion of Line 2, between Jane and Ossington stations, will end at midnight (12 a.m. Sun., Sept. 10), to accommodate track work. Subway service will resume at 10 a.m. on Sun., Sept. 10.

 

Shuttle buses will operate, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations. All stations will remain open for people to load their PRESTO card, purchase PRESTO Tickets, or connect to surface routes.

 

Automated entrances at the following stations will be closed:

 

  • High Park Station, at Bloor St. W. and Parkview Gardens, north and south.

     

  • Keele Station, at the Green P parking lot on Indian Road.

     

  • Lansdowne Station, at Bloor St. W. and Emerson Ave.

     

  • Dufferin Station, at Bloor St. W. and Russet Ave.

 

Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

 

Weekend Events

 

There are many street events happening across Toronto this weekend, and the TTC has plenty of eco-friendly transit options to help customers get to and from the festivities safely. Some services will divert to accommodate festival road closures.

 

TIFF Festival Street

 

TIFF Festival Street is underway on King St. W., between Peter St. and University Ave. Customers attending can take the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University, to St Andrew Station.

Taste of Kingsway

 

Those attending Taste of Kingsway on Bloor St. W., between Montgomery Rd. and Prince Edward Dr., can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, to Royal York Station.

 

Road closures will be in effect starting 12 p.m. Fri., Sept. 8, until midnight Sun., Sept. 10. The 300 Bloor-Danforth Night Bus will be diverting both ways along Islington Ave., Dundas St. W., and Prince Edward Dr.

 

Ossington End of Summer Celebration

 

Customers attending the Ossington End of Summer Celebration on Ossington Ave., between Dundas St. W. and Queen St. W., can take a 501 Queen or 505 Dundas streetcar to get there.

 

Starting 6 a.m. Sat., Sept. 9, until Sun., Sept. 10, 63 Ossington buses will divert to accommodate road closures.

 

The Cabbagetown Festival

 

Customers attending the Cabbagetown Festival can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, to Castle Frank Station, and a 65 Parliament bus to Wellesley St., or a 506 Carlton streetcar to Parliament St.

 

Starting 6 a.m. Sat., Sept. 9 until 4 a.m. Sun., Sept. 10., 65/365 Parliament buses and 506 Carlton streetcars will divert to accommodate road closures.

 

Jesus in the City Parade

 

Those attending the Jesus in the City Parade on Saturday can take the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University, to Queens Park Station.

 

On Sat., Sept. 9, the following routes will divert to accommodate the parade:

 

  • 13 Avenue Road, from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.

     

  • 94 Wellesley, from 6 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

     

  • 19 Bay from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

 

NeighbourLink North York Community Fair

 

Those attending the NeighbourLink North York Community Fair on Saturday can take the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University, to North York Centre Station.

 

97 Yonge buses will be diverting on Sat., Sept. 9 from 6 a.m. – midnight, to accommodate the closure of Yonge St., between Empress and Elmwood avenues.

 

Constantine Yorkville Run

 

Customers can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, to Bay Station, for the starting line of this Sunday’s Constantine Yorkville Run at Bay St. and Yorkville Ave. Other vantage points can reached by taking the subway, Line 1 Yonge-University, to Wellesley, College, Dundas, St Patrick, Queens Park, or Museum stations.

 

On Sun., Sept. 10., the 13 Avenue Road will divert from 8:15 – 10:45 a.m., and the 19 Bay from 5:30 – 11:30am.

 

Early subway closures Monday – Thursday

 

Mon., Sept. 11, through Thurs., Sept. 14, subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair West and Sheppard West stations, will end nightly at 11 p.m. due to track work.

 

Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations.

 

Yorkdale and Glencairn stations will be closed during this time. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets and connect to surface routes.

 

Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

 

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
