TTC to conduct subway emergency simulation this Sunday

This Sun., Sept. 17, the TTC will conduct an early morning subway emergency simulation on Line 4 Sheppard, which will test the effectiveness of emergency response and evacuation procedures.

The exercise will involve the evacuation of passengers from a subway station and from a train trapped in the subway tunnel.

Activities related to the simulation will be visible at Don Mills Station and the Buchan Court Emergency Exit, which will involve approximately 300 actors simulating customers, including some as simulated casualties. White, non-toxic theatrical smoke may also be seen from subway ventilation shafts during the simulation.

Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Paramedic Services, and Toronto Police Service will also be participating in the exercise.

Sunday’s simulation will occur from 2 a.m. – 11 a.m. To accommodate the exercise, subway service on Line 4 will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Shuttle buses will operate from the start of Sunday morning subway service at 8 a.m.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternate routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
