TTC service to resume along section of Broadview Ave as work completes ahead of schedule

The TTC is resuming service along a section of Broadview Ave., between Gerrard St. E. and Danforth Ave., with the first phase of streetcar track renewal completed ahead of schedule.

From Saturday, 504/505 King/Dundas buses will operate every ten minutes, each way between Castle Frank Station and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.

“Although necessary, closures for construction are disruptive for everyone who relies on the TTC to get around, so I am very pleased that work on this very busy stretch of Broadview Ave. has finished ahead of schedule, and that service can resume,” said Mayor Olivia Chow. “Thank you to the TTC crews and engineers for working around the clock throughout summer to complete this work.”

“I am pleased that the first phase of streetcar track replacement on Broadview Ave., south of Danforth Ave., has completed ahead of schedule,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “Infrastructure renewal is critically important in keeping our transit system in a state of good repair, so TTC customers have a safe service they can rely on.”

"The return of TTC service on Broadview between Gerrard and Danforth is great news,” said Councillor Paula Fletcher, Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. “I'd like to thank residents and businesses for their patience during this important work to renew infrastructure on our local transit routes and help keep Ward 14 moving."

“Thank you to our customers and local residents for their patience and understanding while we carried out this critical work, replacing streetcar tracks on Broadview Ave., between Gerrard St. E. and Danforth Ave,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. “We are now focused on completing the second phase of streetcar track replacement work at Broadview Station, so that regular bus service is operating there again by the fourth week of November.”

Starting Sat., Oct. 21, 504/505 King/Dundas replacement buses will be operating between Castle Frank Station and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, via Bloor St. E., Danforth Ave., Broadview Ave., Gerrard St. E., St Matthews Rd., and Jack Layton Way. As a temporary service, buses will not appear in transit apps or schedules.

Service will continue until Sun., Nov. 19, when the second phase of work at Broadview Station is expected to complete and regular bus routes resume.

Castle Frank Station is not an accessible station at this time. Those who require elevator access to the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, can continue to Broadview Station. 504/505 buses will be serving stops on Broadview Ave., close to Broadview Station.

504 King and 505 Dundas streetcars are scheduled to return to Broadview Station in early 2024, after remaining Toronto Water and TTC overhead work on Broadview Ave. is complete.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternate routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on X (formerly Twitter) or sign up for eAlerts.
