TTC increasing service on key bus routes, improving frequency and reliability across the network

The TTC is increasing service to meet ridership demand. This will also include improving frequency and reliability across the transit system in peak and off-peak periods.

Starting Sun., Oct. 8, the TTC will be increasing service on 14 bus routes and improving on-time reliability on a further 11 routes. By November, the TTC bus network will operate at 99 per cent of pre-pandemic service levels.

The TTC is also implementing the third phase of the Line 3 Scarborough bus replacement services plan, by extending the 954 Lawrence East Express to Kennedy Station. This extension ensures frequent, high-capacity connections with the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth.

“Increasing TTC service means more frequent and reliable transit, and a more comfortable trip for more riders,” said Mayor Olivia Chow. “I am pleased that starting Sunday, more Scarborough residents will have faster connections to the subway, without needing to transfer to other buses.”

“The bus network is the backbone of the TTC and this increase is vitally important for people who rely on buses to get to work and essential appointments,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “We are steadily building back service, and by November buses will be back to 99 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, with many routes better than 100 per cent.”

“Many of these changes are in off-peak times, meaning shorter waits for your bus, streetcar or subway train,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. “With tremendous support from the TTC Board, we are working harder than ever to improve service levels across our bus, subway and streetcar network.”

In addition to service improvements on key bus routes, the TTC is also making adjustments to select routes serving seasonal summer destinations, and to accommodate construction. Full details of the service adjustments coming into effect this Sunday are available at https://www.ttc.ca/riding-the-ttc/Updates/October-service-adjustments.

The TTC will also continue to monitor service in real time and have additional, unscheduled vehicles available across all modes to fill gaps in service when and where possible.
