Upcoming TTC subway closures and weekend diversions

Saturday

This Sat., March 18 only, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 between York Mills and Bloor-Yonge stations due to important repairs and updates to track-level ATC infrastructure.

Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations. In addition to the shuttles, the 97 Yonge bus and the University side of Line 1 will be available as alternatives during the closure.

Summerhill Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to load their PRESTO card, purchase PRESTO Tickets, or connect to surface routes.

At Lawrence Station, the automatic entrances/exits at Ranleigh Ave. and Bedford Park Ave. will be closed. Other entrances and exits will be available for customers.

Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

Sunday

This Sun. March 19, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held in Toronto. Those joining the parade or other St. Patrick’s Day festivities are encouraged to take the TTC to travel safely and responsibly.

The TTC will be increasing service on Lines 1 and 2 to accommodate those attending the Parade. Customers can access the Parade route from the following subway stations: St George, Museum, Bloor-Yonge, Wellesley, College, Dundas and Queen.

Several routes will also be diverting to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, including:

  • 13 Avenue Rd, from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • 94 Wellesley, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • 501 Queen, from 12 - 4:00 p.m.

The 19 Bay, 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton will operate as usual through breaks in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Customers should expect longer than normal travel and wait times on these routes due to the event.

Monday to Thursday

Mon., March 20 through Thurs., March 23, subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Lawrence and St Clair stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. due to Metrolinx construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT (ECLRT).

Replacement shuttle buses will run frequently, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station.

As Lawrence Station is not yet accessible, customers travelling southbound on Line 1 who require an accessible connection should exit the train at York Mills Station and see any TTC customer service employee for assistance.

All stations will remain open for customers to load their PRESTO card or purchase PRESTO Tickets and connect to surface routes.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternate routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
