TTC recognizes Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Week in Toronto

March 18 - 24 is Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Week in the City of Toronto. The TTC is excited to celebrate this week with our employees and customers in recognition of the 16,000 TTC transit workers who keep Toronto moving.

Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie kicked off the week-long celebration by declaring March 18 Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day and visiting with TTC employees on Saturday.

"We appreciate the work our transit workers do every day but I am proud that we were able to recognize them and thank them throughout this week. Our TTC workers keep our transit system running and go above and beyond for riders each and every day and night. This week gives all of us the opportunity to thank our transit workers for their hard work, while sending the message that abuse and assault against transit workers will not be tolerated," said Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie.

“TTC employees keep Toronto moving – getting people to and from work, appointments, and around the city,” said TTC Chair Jon Burnside. “I want to personally thank the 16,000 TTC employees who show up every day and provide safe, reliable and efficient service to all our customers. I hope everyone will join me in thanking transit workers for all that they do to support our city.”

“Our employees give 100 per cent everyday, and they are the unsung heroes that keep this city moving,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. “Being a transit worker isn’t easy and I am so proud of our employees each and every day. There are so many who go above and beyond for our customers – not only to deliver reliable service, but also to contribute to the community. Thank you to all of our employees today and every day for the excellent work they do.”

The TTC is recognizing employees throughout the week with exciting initiatives including giveaways, contests and videos. Customers who wish to participate are encouraged to thank their local TTC employees and submit any compliments or stories on social media or through customer service online or by phone.
