This weekend on the TTC

Subway closures

Weekend closure – Line 1 – St George to St Andrew

This Sat., Dec. 9 and Sun., Dec. 10, there will be no subway service on the University side of Line 1 Yonge-University, between St George and St Andrew stations, due to track work.

Shuttle buses will not operate, as construction and expected traffic congestion along University Ave. would cause significant delays for customers. Instead, the TTC is increasing service on downtown surface routes.

For downtown travel this weekend, customers have many convenient options:

Customers on the University side of Line 1 can take a 510 Spadina streetcar from Spadina Station, and transfer to connecting eastbound services at College St. (506 Carlton streetcar), Dundas St. (505 Dundas streetcar), Queen St. (501 Queen replacement bus), or King St. (504 King).

Customers on the Yonge side of Line 1 can connect to westbound services at Wellesley Station (94 Wellesley), College Station (506 Carlton streetcar), Dundas Station (505 Dundas streetcar), Queen Station (501B Queen on Church St.), or King Station (504 King).

Museum, Queens Park and St Patrick stations will be closed. All other subway stations will remain open for customers to load PRESTO cards, purchase PRESTO tickets and connect to surface routes.

Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance. Extra Wheel-Trans vehicles will be available in the downtown core for any customer who requires an accessible connection at a station that may not be accessible.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

Wheel-Trans service to major shopping malls

Due to heavy congestion within shopping mall parking lots during the busy holiday shopping season, TTC Wheel-Trans will adjust service at select malls.

Beginning Sun., Dec. 10, Wheel-Trans will service specific entrances at the following major shopping malls:

  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre: Shoppers Drug Mart mall entrance.

  • Scarborough Town Centre: entrance 7 near TD Canada Trust Bank, and entrance 2 near Canada Trust.

  • Fairview Mall: entrance 6 near Shoppers Drug Mart, entrance 4 near Hero Burger, and the T&T Supermarket entrance.

  • Cloverdale Mall: Winners entrance and Home Hardware entrance.

  • Sherway Gardens: entrance 7 near Shoppers Drug Mart and entrance 4 near Scotiabank/Starbucks.

Service to all other malls will remain unchanged.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternate routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on X (formerly Twitter) or sign up for eAlerts.
