Weekend travel information and upcoming subway closures

There are no scheduled subway closures this weekend, and with plenty of transit options, the TTC is the fastest, most convenient, and eco-friendly way to get around Toronto.

Those attending Taste of the Danforth can take the subway, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, to Broadview, Chester, Pape, or Donlands stations. The TTC will operate extra subway service on Lines 1 and 2 from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening, to accommodate the large crowds expected.

National Bank Open

Customers heading to the National Bank Open can take Line 1 Yonge-University to Pioneer Village Station, which is a short walk from Sobeys Stadium. Bus routes close to the venue include the 106 Sentinel, 108 Driftwood, and 960 Steeles West Express.

Additional diversions

The 501 Queen and 505 Dundas streetcars will divert both ways via Broadview Ave., Gerrard St. E., and Coxwell Ave., and the 501 Queen bus replacement will divert via Broadview Ave., Dundas St. E., and Carlaw Ave.

Starting 5 a.m. Mon., Aug. 14, until 5 a.m. Mon., Aug 28, the intersection of Broadview and Danforth avenues will be closed to westbound traffic, due to construction. The 300 Bloor Danforth Night Bus will divert westbound between Erindale and Cambridge avenues.

Early subway closures Monday – Wednesday

Mon., Aug. 14, through Wed., Aug. 16, subway service on the portion of Line 1 between St Clair and York Mills stations will end nightly at 11 p.m. for track work. Shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations.

Lawrence Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for customers to load their PRESTO card, purchase PRESTO tickets and connect to surface routes.

Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.

While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.

The TTC is committed to keeping customers informed about work and events that impact service and about alternate routes. For the most up-to-date information, follow @TTCNotices on Twitter or sign up for eAlerts.
