TTC offers free rides on Warriors' Day for military personnel and veterans

In honour of Warriors’ Day tomorrow, the TTC will offer free rides to active members of the Canadian military and veterans, along with one companion each, on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021. Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers are required to show their service medals/ribbons to receive free access to TTC buses, streetcars, subway, Wheel-Trans and the SRT.

In the past, the TTC has offered free rides to and from the Warriors’ Day Parade at the CNE, but, as the parade was cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TTC is honouring the tradition and continuing to offer free service to these individuals. The Warriors’ Day Parade Council is celebrating their 100-year anniversary this month.

“The TTC has traditionally provided free service to the Warriors’ Day parade to show our appreciation and gratitude to those who have served our country,” said TTC Chair Jaye Robinson. “We salute those who serve, or have served our country, and congratulate the Warriors’ Day Parade Council on their milestone anniversary.”

“Even though this year’s Warriors’ Day Parade at the CNE has been cancelled, the TTC is honoured to continue the tradition of offering free rides to current and former members of Canada’s military,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary.

Each year, the TTC recognizes the valuable contributions of the Canadian military, veterans and peacekeepers by providing them free travel on Warriors’ Day and on Remembrance Day.
